Nadia Elena Comaneci
The year was 1976 and she became famous after she scored her most perfect ever 10 on the asymmetric bar at the Montreal Olympic Games. Then she scored another perfect 10, making her the most youthful Olympic all-around gold medalist, at only 14. Nadia Comaneci managed to attract international attention and assist in helping Romania get its place in the global spotlight. By achieving a feat that was unattainable, the sporting icon created a legend and promoted gymnastics across the globe. Also, it changed the way people think of female gymnasts. This was due to her impact in the Olympics, that both the movements toe-on (toes on) and the release move are named after her. These two moves have been regarded, to this day, as challenging. Apart from the Olympics she was also a star during the World Championships and European Championships. Her performances have made her one of the best gymnasts of all time. After her departure to the US the 'Queen of Olympics was a model and promoting sports equipment.
